Scott Mackall Gilman is a screenwriter working in horror, sci-fi, and fantasy, drawn to stories about mythology, psychological tension, and broken systems. He grew up homeschooled in rural Virginia, coming up with monster movies in the woods while AK-47s went off in the neighbor's yard.
His feature screenplays have earned recognition from the Austin Film Festival, the Golden Script Competition, and The Black List, where he earned the coveted "Black List Recommended Badge" for his surreal Appalachian horror script, YOO-HOO, JOHNNY APPLESEED. Scott's Western horror feature screenplay RED GULCH was optioned for development in 2025.
In addition to feature and TV screenwriting, Scott has experience writing for video games like The Last Broadcast and Jizo No Akumu, as well as Dungeons & Dragons and other Table-Top Role-Playing Game adventures.
He lives in Los Angeles, where he continues to write genre features focused on atmosphere, tension, and psychologically grounded horror. When he’s not writing, you can find Scott playing D&D or rereading H. P. Lovecraft, Octavia Butler, and Stephen King.
